Why Donate Your Trawler?
CEMI is seeking select single engine trawlers that can be converted from traditional diesel or gasoline propulsion to modern electric marine systems. Donated Trawlers may become part of our educational demonstration fleet, research platform, or public outreach program.

Your donation can help us:

• Demonstrate quiet, clean electric propulsion
• Support high school and adult education
• Create hands-on learning opportunities
• Preserve usable vessels instead of allowing them to deteriorate or be scrapped

Potential Tax Benefits
Boat donations to a nonprofit may provide a charitable tax deduction based on the vessel’s fair market value and how the donation is used.

In some cases, if the value of the donation is larger than the donor can deduct in one tax year, unused charitable deductions may be carried forward for up to five additional tax years, subject to IRS rules and individual tax circumstances.

Because every donor’s tax situation is different, please speak with your financial advisor, CPA, or tax attorney to confirm whether a boat donation works for you.

What Happens Next?
After you submit the form, a CEMI representative will review the information and contact you to discuss the vessel, its condition, location, documentation, and possible next steps.

If the boat appears to be a good fit, CEMI may request photos, maintenance records, ownership documents, and a marine survey or valuation.
